What is Alopecia? Alopecia is a sudden hair loss that occurs when the immune system suddenly attacks the hair follicles and cause several hair loss patches in one or more areas of the scalp.

What causes Alopecia? Alopecia can be caused by stress, chemicals, wearing tight buns, ponytails, braids or weaves.

​

What are the Symptoms? Small patches of loss hair that eventually leads to small or large bald spots overtime.

​

What are some common types of Alopecia?

Alopecia Areata-When you hair follicles are being attacked by your immune system.

Traction Alopecia- caused by wearing tight hair or high hair buns, ponytails, braids and weaves.

Cicatricial Alopecia-permanent scarring of the hair follicles and scalp tissues (cannot be treated in most cases).

 Adrogenetic Alopecia-heightened sensitivity of the scalp causing patterns of baldness.
